Who was the greatest heavyweight of all time?
No-one can answer that definitely, but in ‘The Great Heavyweights’
Henry Cooper selects those he believes to be the five supreme champions.
Jack Johnson, Jack Dempsey, Joe Louis, Rocky Marciano and Muhammad Ali,
and devotes a chapter to each. Drawing on his own experience and ringcraft
he gives fresh insights into their fights and states his opinions on controversies
such as ‘the long count’ the Louis-Farr contest and the second Ali-Liston fight.
Four chapters on the other modern heavyweight champions follow with
two concluding chapters on Henry Cooper’s own career.
The whole book is profusely illustrated with 250 black and white illustrations
many of which have not been published before, and concludes with the complete
ring records of the five great heavy-weight champions as well as Henry Cooper’s
own boxing record.
